Grinder: What a scoring outburst by the Pens.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 5:53:50 PM

naturallawyer: I'd say the Sens are done like dinner...
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 5:48:50 PM

naturallawyer: That's how it looked to me, too. I didn't think there was any way that Brown intended that hit, but apparently Couture is a better judge of another player's mental intent than I am...
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 5:30:47 PM

Grinder: Superman? I'd say he looks more like Wonder Woman. ;-)
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 5:25:34 PM

vbing: Perhaps Galliardi is on the bench when Couture is on the ice? Truth is that I have seen almost no embellishment from the Kings this playoff season - from Dusty or from JQ. These are all based on past history, not what the Kingsmhave been doing during the 2013 playoffs.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 5:09:14 PM

nocloutier: That doesnt sound like a leader talking, sounds like a 2nd yr guy. They say its Couture's team, that can only mean bad things for the whiney sharts.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:59:59 PM

naturallawyer: If Couture knows that Brown saw him coming, doesn't that mean that Couture also saw Brown coming? Or is he aware of some replay angle that I haven't seen?
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:56:10 PM

jgonz69: Fuck him. He went down like he got shot when Greene was called for high sticking.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:55:23 PM

naturallawyer: Couture was shaken up in the second period of Game 4 in a mid-ice collision with Kings captain Dustin Brown. The Sharks forward was less than pleased. "He saw me," Couture said after the game. "I wasn' t looking. He saw me and hit me and then he dove after the hit to make it look like he ran into me. That's the way he plays."
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:53:23 PM

jgonz69: Why aren't they refs calling the pens game as tight as the Kings game?
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:42:35 PM

kingfann: Remember when the Bruins blew a 3-0 series lead a few years ago? Their AHL team just completed the exact same collapse tonight.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:35:20 PM

ericd: the closeness of games, the being really outplayed at times and that we have allowed them to even the series...
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:30:07 PM

kingscast: ...as an assistant coach (obviously).
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:12:01 PM

kingscast: Hearing that coach Mark Morris of the Monarchs could be on his way to the Sabres.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 4:01:16 PM

kingscast: Once Tippett and Ruff are gone, AV is probably the next guy to go.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 3:35:04 PM

kingscast: Luongo can definitely still be a starter. But the market for goalies is pretty low right now. Once he's bought out, the contract he gets will be pretty low.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 3:28:08 PM

kingfann: I think AV's a pretty good coach. He'll probably get picked up pretty quickly. That Vancouver team just isn't what it once was.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 3:21:39 PM

naturallawyer: The only issue I can see with that is you'll encourage players to keep playing after the whistle, which could be a safety problem. But last night was an indisputable slam-dunk, the whistle was a half-second early and the puck was on its way in, kind of like a basketball shot before the whistle that counts even if it goes in after the whistle.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 3:10:58 PM

kingfann: What I don't get is why they just can't reverse the call. I'm not saying they should review whistles to see if they should have been blown or not, but in cases like last night where the ref sees he made a mistake right away and wants to reverse the call, why not allow him to do that?
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 3:07:24 PM

Word: FRASER: THE REFEREE'S INTENT OF BLOWING THE WHISTLE www.tsn.ca
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 2:25:19 PM

naturallawyer: Galiardi, on Quick: “What kind of bugs me about him, I don’t know if I should say it, but a little embellishment every now and then,” Galiardi said. “You skate by and you don’t even touch him or you barely even touch him and he’s throwing his hands in the air. So that’s one of those things. It’s playoffs. Everyone’s trying to draw a penalty. Whatever.” blogs.mercurynews.com
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 2:20:21 PM

kingscast: He needs to find a taker that's willing to take on that awful contract. Florida already said no. The Leafs made the playoffs and Reimer didn't seem too terribly out of place. Where does he go? My money is on the buyout.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 1:53:32 PM

nocloutier: that and he finally put penner up with carter and richards (last years combo that worked well)
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 1:14:12 PM

kingscast: I agree. I'm not sure Gillis can build the Canucks into a winner.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 12:23:01 PM

nocloutier: that is not a shock.. maybe the GM should go too for allowing the goalie thing to bleed into their entire season
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 12:21:25 PM

vbing: You mean losing games by 1 goal?
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 12:15:24 PM

kingscast: If it's a better performance than last night he could put Bernier at center for all I care.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 11:39:52 AM

nocloutier: im assuming that's 3rd 2nd 1st and 4th.. that's ok i guess. Rather have Nolan over that AHL guy they keep putting out there but close enough
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 11:29:04 AM

nocloutier: Sutter mustve had a mild stroke
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 11:25:15 AM

kingscast: From Helene: Sutter mixes up lines again. King-Lewis-Brown, Penner-Richards-Carter, Clifford-kopitar-williams, richardson-Fraser-Toffoli
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 11:17:05 AM

matt: As I reached for the milk to prepare my morning cereal, I was shocked to see Anze Kopitar's face on the side of the carton. If you see him, please contact dsutter@lakings.com immediately.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 9:15:20 AM

Grinder: If your PK isn't effective, then quit taking penalties unless they prevent a quality scoring chance. It's not rocket science.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 8:24:59 AM

Grinder: On the bright side, the Kings have home ice advantage in the remaining games. If Detroit knocks Chicago out, they could have it next round too. They'd better take care of business.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 8:19:56 AM

sneak: Couture must be a soccer player. Either that or a secret Sedin!
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 7:00:42 AM

Mike: Dwight King has been BEYOND invisible for the entire season. I would much rather see Nolan than him. Those two were the big sparks that are nonexistent this run. So, they or one needs to step up. Missing Mitchell hurts....a lot. But...."as well" as SJ played, with our disallowed goal (blown call by crappy refs), and Muzzin missing the broad side of a barn, they only escaped with a W....at home.....by 1. Lets see how home ice treats us. All around. Kings should win....the series, too. :-)
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 6:50:42 AM

DUMB86: Stupid zebras!
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 2:15:16 AM

ericd: As you predicted kings in 6, I had Kings in 7 - its just the way we have got to this point that is making me very nervous... now they cant afford a slip up...
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 2:10:41 AM

naturallawyer: Crazy but true.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 12:35:14 AM

naturallawyer: The Kings are apologizing for a twitter gaffe rather than the quality of their play... Nobody cares about Kevin & Bean anymore guys.
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 12:33:03 AM

stephan: i feel like he has been maybe the best forward the kings have had..he has been great on the puck...
Wednesday May 22, 2013 - 12:02:12 AM

nocloutier: Prob some nagging injuries are effecting the top 6 Kopi and Richards dont look right to me.. last year so many guys played out of their heads like Quick, Penner, Kopi, Brown, Voynov King and Nolan, this year who has stepped up besides JQ?
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 11:31:01 PM

5-Hole: is there any way we can skate the players for about half an hour before the game starts Thursday, then convince then it's the beginning of the second period? They just don't seem to want to play the first...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 11:23:58 PM

naturallawyer: Both GWGs in SJ were PPGs based on stupid penalties by bottom six forwards. They can't do that, their whole job is to keep it simple and play smart.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 10:05:47 PM

naturallawyer: It's definitely dimmer there, but not as bad as it looks on TV.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 10:00:47 PM

Grinder: This team still needs to improve their passing and pass receiving. Can't breakout with slow inaccurate passes against a forecheck. And maybe the physical toll from the Blues series is showing a bit.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:47:52 PM

lowdrive: "I think our role players kept us in the game. They have the last three games." - Sutter-speak for "Where the fuck are our first and second lines?"
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:45:51 PM

kingleberry: I think LA is fatigued and beat up. The short offseason, condensed season, and That St Louis series took allot out of them. If they can dig deep and win Thurs it will be huge for the team. U could see how relieved they were when they finally got that goal in the third tonight. LA has the talent and will to win it all again this year, but do they have the determination? SJ is hungry and has been knocking on the door for years. At least the Kings have something to prove after losing these two.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:45:10 PM

nobska: Couture sounds like a girl when he talks too. Annoys me.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:43:44 PM

lowdrive: Matt Greene is such a badass. "We need to start on time."
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:43:07 PM

Grinder: I hate when players raise their arms so they lift an opponent's stick up high before snapping their head back to simulate a highstick. Or when tackles are ignored on a scoring chance.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:40:26 PM

lowdrive: Kings seem very thin this year all the way around, and I suppose they are. Missing Mitchell has put them on the back foot defensively because he's a #1 pairing guy. So that leaves the Kings with a rookie D-man and a 2nd year guy in Voynov playing a ton of minutes (granted he's scored some key goals, but got stripped on SJ's first goal). Up front, the big thing last year is that King and Nolan came from nowhere and were very effective in the playoffs. This year, King played like 1 minute in the 2nd and Nolan is obviously in the doghouse. Couple that with missing Stoll and we're hurting up front as well. All of that said, these have all been one goal games and we could win this just as easily as not. I look forward to griping about this tomorrow. BTW, Bob and Jim's first comment in the post game show was about the disallowed goal. I guess they are losers? =)
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:39:04 PM

Grinder: This team had a poor road record during the regular season. Not sure why, but it's continuing (and possibly getting worse) in the playoffs.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:35:36 PM

Grinder: The Sharks must take drama classes in the Summer to perfect their diving technique.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:32:18 PM

Grinder: They have guys that are ineffective forecheckers. King and Penner are too slow to pressure anybody. Cannot sustain a forecheck even with short shifts. Hopefully they play hard to start Thursday like they ended tonight's game.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:29:42 PM

naturallawyer: Brown got rocked twice tonight without getting to brace himself for either hit. That had to take a toll.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:26:09 PM

Grinder: As long as he's wiping up his own blood this time, I'd like to see it happen.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:25:09 PM

Grinder: This Kings team is built to play physical, yet they aren't fast enough to contain an up tempo offense. Penalties still killed them tonight.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:20:19 PM

lowdrive: It is well known that SC2 does not use lube.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:16:03 PM

nocloutier: wow shro2.. flew in supersonic from the desert and just shelled smyttie to smytereens
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:14:45 PM

stephan: i just really don't want to see thornton sliding around staples center ice again..
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:13:52 PM

schroeder2: Smyttie: You fantasize that you're the voice of reason...In reality, you're just a voice of...my dog's anus. This is the Stanley Cup playoffs. I have a reasonable expectation of a high degree of competence on the part of the game officials. Tonight, they failed the league and the game...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:13:21 PM

sneak: I agree - they have had way too much influence on the games. Let's hope they let the teams decide the upcoming 2 out of 3 "mini-series".
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:13:19 PM

lowdrive: It's upsetting because at the end of the day, I want to be entertained. I want my team to win a contest of skill and luck. I don't want that contest to be decided by inconsistent and/or horrible judgment calls.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:13:00 PM

lowdrive: I do. I call it how I see it. I always have. I thought the penalty on Galiardi was bullshit too. If observing and being annoyed by a blown call makes me a sharks fan, then fry me up. If the Kings players where whining about calls, that would be concerning. If the team's fans are not, that's just not having any heart.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:09:59 PM

nocloutier: yeah i like that idea.. sutter did that before w ellerby and martinez.. i just rather have martinez play over muzzin.. tho muzzin is getting better he's still way less polished on the breakouts and gettiung pucks out in general
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:06:05 PM

mikel: Hate it when referees decide games. The Kings loss tonight was painful to watch. They need to change the rules for incidents like this.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:06:02 PM

stephan: he has been missing the last two games
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:02:00 PM

naturallawyer: No, Sharks fans think the refs are biased and claim the refs want the Kings to win. I just think the refs suck, not that they are biased. I haven't seen Kings fans come up with any stupid conspiracy theories yet.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:59:13 PM

lowdrive: Yeah, as I said, where the fuck was this the first two periods..
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:57:41 PM

stephan: he's prolly out of for a while..not even skating ha?
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:57:00 PM

kingleberry: What goes around comes around, lets hope this one reignites the Kings.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:56:25 PM

stephan: he has really not played well
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:50:13 PM

vbing: Sutter playing the long game. Kings earned home ice advantage in the last game of the series. It's a good thing because they will need it.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:47:38 PM

stephan: bottom line is we need more scoring from first line...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:47:00 PM

nocloutier: sutter has weird personnel decisions sometimes.. some of them mind boggling
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:45:13 PM

norcojim: Stupid penalty by Fraser and screwup by the ref.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:43:00 PM

Grinder: Fark these refs.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:42:16 PM

naturallawyer: Thursday is gonna suck.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:41:48 PM

norcojim: We need Regher to throwing some checks, especially on Couture. I think he can be rattled!
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:34:20 PM

Grinder: Kings are playing in all out attack mode
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:29:31 PM

nobska: Sooner or later one of Kopi's shots has to go in.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:29:12 PM

norcojim: Can't worry about that shit now, we need a goal to tie this up. San Jose looks like they lost the edge.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:27:13 PM

lowdrive: says the philosophy major?
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:26:28 PM

kingfann: Now I'm just more mad about that non-goal...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:24:54 PM

naturallawyer: It's a game now.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:23:04 PM

kingfann: Hey now
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:22:54 PM

stauberfan: does anyone have an online feed for the game?
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:20:59 PM

naturallawyer: I really think Martinez should have Muzzin's spot.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:20:01 PM

kingfann: It's almost like Muzzin's a rookie or something
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:18:36 PM

naturallawyer: Maybe Penner should stay on the 2nd line...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:15:32 PM

vbing: Geez, another Couture dive ...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:14:42 PM

kingfann: Wow, it took a lot longer for Greene's first penalty than I thought it would.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:14:34 PM

lowdrive: At least one of our teams can count..to 11..
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:14:10 PM

lowdrive: I have never claimed to be able to count or do math.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:06:32 PM

nocloutier: yeah but the pattern is 3 then 6.. so this period should be 9.. I can see us getting a couple while the sharts start to remember they're chokers
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:06:30 PM

kingfann: Only six of the Kings' 16 playoff wins last year were by one goal.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:03:38 PM

azking: Momentum pretty much gone right now. Kings really missing a golden chance.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:02:00 PM

kingfann: It was razor thin last year? They went 16-4. Yes, Quick outplayed his opposing goalies, but the Kings best players outplayed the Sedins and Kesler, they outplayed Kovalchuk and Parise, they outplayed whoever St. Louis and Phoenix would like to designate as their top players. Looking at this year, they barely got by the first round despite Quick outplaying Elliott AND their skaters being better. They're not going to get by the Sharks the way they're playing, I think we're seeing that quite clearly.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:59:54 PM

stephan: yeah...totally...i am so over muzzin for now...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:57:49 PM

kingscast: You're right. Kopitar and Brown were two of our biggest forward factors last playoffs. If they continue to suck, we're done.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:56:34 PM

nocloutier: Muzzin rushes things in his own zone and makes mistakes. Martinez is way way more poised w the puck and makes great decisions on the breakout.. i just dont get what DS sees in Muzzin vs Martinez esp for playoff hockey
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:55:53 PM

vbing: Big Joe's outstanding when he is mismatched against Richards ...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:53:27 PM

kingfann: Sure. Between the questionable call on Fraser that led to a Sharks goal, the Kings goal that got blown down prematurely, and Muzzin missing a goal that I'm sure Mrs. Lowdrive would have buried, hell, they could be winning. But the Sharks skaters have significantly outplayed the Kings skaters in this series, and even though they have home-ice advantage, I can't see them winning this series if that doesn't change. The Sharks outplayed the Kings in LA, too (granted, not this badly), the Kings only stole Game 2 because they got those late power plays. For example, Thornton and Couture have been monsters for San Jose. Where's Kopitar and Brown? I just can't see them winning this if it doesn't change.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:53:21 PM

Grinder: The puck should have been clear of the goalie, yet still blown dead. Unbelievable...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:51:45 PM

kingleberry: Could be 2 2 o well it's 2 zip it seems like the Kings just need to answer with one goal and things can change
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:50:58 PM

Grinder: C'mon Muzzin!!!!!!
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:46:04 PM

kingfann: The Kings were only down 1-0 after the first period, but if that wasn't domination, I don't know what was. They may not be getting dominated on the scoreboard, but they're sure getting dominated in play.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:45:05 PM

Grinder: Ticky tack when you let a tackle go uncalled.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:43:46 PM

kingfann: I didn't say that, but the series is four games old and the Sharks, despite the score in the series, have totally dominated.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:36:50 PM

lowdrive: Smyttie, I am shocked at your lack of faith. (I am not)
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:36:29 PM

naturallawyer: I've never felt less confident about a series the Kings led 2-0 at one point.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:34:41 PM

kingfann: I don't know if the Sharks are a better team, but they've certainly been a much better team in this series. I remember saying back in the first round that I was curious to see how the winner of the Blues-Kings series would do in the next round considering how physically draining that series was. I guess we have our answer.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:34:07 PM

nocloutier: that was a penalty on stuart.. kopi had the puck and could be hit but stuart wrapped his arms around him
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:32:52 PM

nocloutier: this period is more even so far. hope the 2 goal lead plays w sharts heads and we get some momentum
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:28:47 PM

lowdrive: Matt Greene just de-cleated Pavelski. That was awesome.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:27:05 PM

Grinder: Total BS.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:24:38 PM

kingleberry: Refs blow another one
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:23:29 PM

Smyttie: Maybe San Jose is the better hockey team...it isn't like the Kings dominated them at Staples Center.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:23:11 PM

kingfann: Oy. This is not our night.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:23:10 PM

vbing: Geez, has Scribe called this game yet? Because if not, I'm ready to ....
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:22:20 PM

kingfann: Never understood why Sutter liked Fraser so much
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:20:19 PM

lowdrive: Wow. That was a terrible call. I think I'm going to turn this one off and wait for someone to text me to tell me to turn it back on.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:20:16 PM

Grinder: Fark these refs. No penalties on SJ. You can't tell me they've done nothing wrong yet. Biased b@stards.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:20:05 PM

stephan: dumb fraser
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:17:55 PM

nocloutier: that looked more on couture than db
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:15:16 PM

naturallawyer: These refs are unreal.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:13:50 PM

nocloutier: last year every level DS pulled was perfect.. recall he called out Penner after his first game in Vancouver and Penner woke up and played great.. he put Nolan and King into the lineup and they contributed big time.. this year, he doesnt seem to be having the same magic. Im really puzzled they showed up this unready to play tonite
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:05:10 PM

Scribe: Totally dominated.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:55:18 PM

Smyttie: I've got a milk carton here with the 1st lines photo on it...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:54:46 PM

Grinder: Wow, not good. Still only down by one though.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:54:28 PM

nocloutier: survive this period and regroup.. we have JQ, and we just need to put together some good shifts in the next period and we'll be OK
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:53:04 PM

stephan: sharks winning all face offs and puck battles...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:52:29 PM

sdguero: Jeeeez. Please let us get out of this period down only 1 goal
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:50:24 PM

belbot18: Just shows you that the Stoll-Torres swap was an advantage for SJ.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:46:25 PM

kingfann: I think we have bigger things to worry about than the Sharks diving...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:45:44 PM

Grinder: These refs are going to decide the game.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:45:04 PM

naturallawyer: The way this game is going isn't helping any of our moods.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:43:42 PM

kingfann: So what was that Doughty said about him feeling good about playing their first 60-minute game tonight?
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:40:56 PM

kingleberry: Go cry to your Mom or write in your Diary this is a place for Kings fans not people who need an emotional release or to take their anger out on other people
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:40:31 PM

nocloutier: Richards looks injured or hungover.. Im sure they are also emotionally drained from dragging King along on every shift
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:38:48 PM

nobska: Well they really do need a win tonight. Big difference between 2-2 to 3-1.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:38:43 PM

naturallawyer: This is more how I thought game 3 might go. Sharks look more desperate tonight than Saturday.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:36:42 PM

Grinder: They are getting beaten in all phases. :-(
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:36:28 PM

stephan: richards line looks awful...lazy clearings...mentally handicapped...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:35:00 PM

kingfann: So people aren't allowed to make observations when they aren't positive?
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:33:23 PM

Grinder: Free shots on goalies. Somebody run Niemi.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:31:52 PM

naturallawyer: Man we are getting worked.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:29:22 PM

ericd: hells teeth... not a good start...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:27:28 PM

nocloutier: at least williams made a nice move to the slot puck rolled.. he's not our problem
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:25:12 PM

naturallawyer: Nice turnover Williams. :-/
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:23:36 PM

sdguero: Didn't look inadvertent to me.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:18:48 PM

vbing: Geez, nice dive by Marleau after that collision.

nocloutier: who's got the lineup? insider doesnt have it.. nor does nhl.com
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:14:49 PM

ericd: Whoa... Broons go up 3-0?...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:13:52 PM

kingleberry: Rangers should fire Torterella
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:12:24 PM

kingfann: Bruins get a late goal, and since there's no way they blow a 3-0 series lead twice in four years, they've all but punched their tickets to the East final. Not looking at all like the tired team that almost got knocked out by the friggin' leafs.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:11:14 PM

nocloutier: ya.. he will bring good energy to the team up until he takes his first dumb penalty
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 5:59:17 PM

kingfann: Looks like we've got some reinforcements. Clifford and Greene both in tonight.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 5:56:13 PM

naturallawyer: Tweeples are reporting Greene in for Ellerby...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 5:55:58 PM

nocloutier: King is a like a Bernese Mountain dog big and dopey and wouldnt hurt a flea.. I wonder if Dwight knows how to fetch that could help his forechecking
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 5:34:01 PM

ericd: This is interseting from Jon Rosen... "After taking part in warm-ups prior to Game 3, Matt Greene could be inserted into his first playoff action of 2013. Should he be ready to play, he would likely take the place of Keaton Ellerby. Jarret Stoll remains out with an upper-body injury." That would be really good if he is ready to go as well...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 5:07:15 PM

ericd: lets hope so... If they can create some havoc that would be great...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 5:02:46 PM

sdguero: Kings better not pull a Blues and lose this game.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 4:48:49 PM

nocloutier: I think we need to see toffolli on line 2 just to see if he can create some matchup issues for mclellan that could free up some of the other guys in the top 6.. d king on the 2nd line you dont even have to cover him.. its just like a boat anchor for richards and carter.. so that means you dont have to worry about matching lines as much
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 4:29:27 PM

naturallawyer: Yeah, with Clifford they should be reliable to eat a whole lot more minutes and relieve pressure from the top lines.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 4:23:03 PM

Grinder: The only difference from two playoffs ago is Fraser instead of Simmonds. That should be a very good 4th line.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 4:16:28 PM

greenking: The East is like a hot stupid chick, fun the bang to crap to live with.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 4:13:19 PM

naturallawyer: The Rangers owe Hank some goals for giving up those breakaways.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 4:06:58 PM

greenking: We need our best players to be at their best, I am calling out Kopitar to score a goal and set the tone. He is such a force when he is agressive that he can tilt the ice alone.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 3:42:06 PM

kingleberry: We really need someone to step up tonight and have a big game. Hopefully someone from our first line
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 3:12:00 PM

nocloutier: he had no hits and no shots in his last game playing 2nd line minutes. he has 2 assists for the entire playoffs. Super soft player esp for his size
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 3:05:23 PM

DUMB86: C'mon Kings. Let's help Torres end his suspension in the next two games.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 2:05:55 PM

kingleberry: "In here we're really prepared to play our first full 60 minute game and get a win and we know that our best 60 against their best 60 we should have the win." Doughty on tonights game
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 12:55:25 PM

naturallawyer: The Kings seem to want to play just well enough to win this year. I saw it in game 5 in St. Louis. The Kings scored, then sat back. The Blues tied it up, so the Kings went and got another one, then sat back. The Blues tied it up again at the end of the game, so the Kings ramped up their game again and scored in OT. The Kings still haven't put together a full game effort, it almost looks like they are trying to conserve energy with the tough schedule. It's the same old story, they play to the level of their competition. If the Kings come out and play solid against the Sharks tonight, they should win. If the Kings get by the Sharks, I think they will play a lot better in the next round.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 12:41:58 PM

htxt: The Sharks are going to get Thornton out vs the Richards line as often as possible. I had a thought that Sutter should flip Carter to center on the road, and leave Richards on LW. I think Carter has the size and defensive ability to handle Thornton. Not that Richards is bad defensively, he’s just physically overmatched.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 12:38:06 PM

ericd: Yeah well... The only problem with that strategy is if you do loose one to a fluke goal, ref incompetence, goalie brain explosion handling the puck etc etc then you are fucked... I would very much rather win tonite and have three match points which then gives some room for a mistake...
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 12:21:32 PM

kingfann: I won't be surprised if the home team wins every game in this series. I won't be too worried if the Kings lose tonight, as long as they play better and perhaps even look like the better team, which I'm not sure they have in any game in this series yet.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 12:03:26 PM

htxt: Yeah, Flyers fans can be harsh, even to their own. I remember the very first game I went to, they heckled the little girl answering the intermission jumbotron quiz. Classy. I will say that in the handful of games I’ve been to, I’ve gotten nothing more than good-natured ribbing for being a Kings fan. Fans would usually just ask me how their former Flyers were doing.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 11:12:15 AM

nobska: The problem with King is he is getting chances with the puck because the opposition is keyed on Richards and Carter. He doesn't have the skill to finish, or at least he hasn't. Watch how many times he has the puck alone and does nothing, it's a lot.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 10:32:51 AM

naturallawyer: That makes sense. Oddly, the only time I've been referred to with "gay" epithets at a hockey game was in anaheim.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 9:21:51 AM

greenking: The Kings have played great defense and have gotten great goaltending in the playoffs, but I give our fowards a C-plus overall. They need to take the game to the Sharks. Our starts for some reason have sucked. The only way to change that is to get the puck deep bang the body and throw everything at the net. Sad when Dustin Penner looks more agressive on the puck than Kopitar. I really have never been critical of Kopi but he needs to step it up. Williams who I think the world of also needs to get it going. I say if they stay the way they are you put Brown on a line with Carter and Richards who have been the real #1 line in the playoffs. No more King on the top two lines.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:50:50 AM

vbing: I thought that when the Kings won Game 3 against the Blues that the momentum was changing. The Sharks win on the weekend didn't really feel all that momentum changing. There could be something tonight to turn the tide, but the Kings are one of the most composed teams I have seen in a long time. I am still sticking with 6 games, regardless of tonight's outcome.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 8:31:58 AM

azking: The Kings need to take this tonight. If they win tonight, this is over in 5. If they lose, momentum starts to shift the pressure mounts on them to not blow it at home.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:56:06 AM

kingfann: Really? I thought the Blackhawks came on in the third until Datsyuk's goal, but other than that I'm not sure I'd say they looked like a much better team.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 7:53:34 AM

esaki: I like Philly as a city, and I like the people of Philly especially. I also like cheesesteak. Great town. The Flyers game I went to was hostile and low-rent. Not sure what was more offensive, the multiple gay slurs thrown my way, or the two fat people making out under a lamppost after the game, which almost turned me gay.
Tuesday May 21, 2013 - 6:24:47 AM

naturallawyer: I've always had a great time traveling to away games, but I tend to follow a few rules that I expect opposing fans to respect when they come to Staples: smile at good-natured ribbing, cheer toward the ice for your team (never turn around to cheer in the other home fans' faces), and don't respond to (and avoid eye contact with) obvious a-holes. Also, if the Kings win, leave quietly. SJ fans weren't any worse than I expected considering their complete hatred of all things LA. They have to tone it down now that we are the champs. :-)
