 GOALTENDING STATS HIGHLIGHTS

 (Individual rankings are based on goalies who are on pace to play in
 a minimum of 27 games)

 Potvin, who played poorly in October and November, completely turned
 his game around in December.  In 12 games (680 minutes), he earned a
 4-3-3 record, and allowed 20 goals on 255 shots, good for a stellar
 1.77 GAA (way down from 3.23 in November), and an outstanding .922
 save percentage (way up from .869 in November).

 Potvin ended December ranked 36th in GAA (up from 47th in November),
 and 49th in save percentage (up from 56th in November).

 Storr continued his strong play in the backup role in December. He
 played in 6 games (238 minutes), earning a 3-1-1 record, allowing 8
 goals on 109 shots, good for a 2.02 GAA, and a .927 save percentage.

 Storr ended December ranked fifth in the NHL in GAA (up from 15th in
 November), and is tied for 17th in save percentage (up from 38th in
 November).

 The Kings' .900 team save percentage (up significantly from .887 in
 November), ties them for 16th in the league (way up from 29th in
 November).

 The Tampa Bay Lightning are ranked first, with a .930 team save
 percentage.

 The Washington Capitals are ranked last, with a .890 team save
 percentage.

 that many are based on per game averages which generally are not used

                  minutes).

                  LA allowed 30 goals in 15 games (921 minutes) in
                  December, good for an outstanding 1.95 team GAA for
                  the month.

                  The Colorado Avalanche are the top defensive team in
                  the league, with a 1.96 team GAA.

                  The Atlanta Thrashers are the worst defensive team,
                  with a 3.74 team GAA.

  
 POWER PLAY:      The Kings are ranked fourth in the NHL on the power
                  play (up from fifth in November), scoring 35 power
                  play goals on 176 attempts, 19.9% (up from 19.6% in
                  November).

                  LA scored 13 power play goals on 64 attempts, 20.3%
                  (down from 22.4% in November).

                  The Detroit Red Wings have the best power play, with
                  a 21.4% rating.
  
                  The Pittsburgh Penguins are last, with an 9.0%

PENALTY-         LA is ranked fourth in penalty-killing (way up from
 KILLING:         18th in November), allowing 21 power play goals on
                  185 times shorthanded, 88.6% (up from 84.7% in
                  November).

                  The Kings allowed just 2 power play goals on 61
                  times shorthanded in December, good for a whopping
                  96.7% rating (way up from 78.0% in November).
              
                  The San Jose Sharks have the best penalty-killing
                  with an 89.5% rating.
  
                  The Chicago Blackhawks have the worst
                  penalty-killing with a 77.5% rating.



 FACE-OFFS:       The Kings are ranked 11th in face-off winning
                  percentage (down from eighth in November), with a
                  50.9% rating (down from 51.2% in November).

                  The Carolina Hurricanes lead the NHL in face-off
                  winning percentage with a 54.4% rating.

                  The Buffalo Sabres are the worst team on face-offs,
                  with a 45.5% rating.


 BLOCKED SHOTS:   LA is ranked 17th in blocked shots (down from 13th
                  in November), averaging 11.7 blocked shots per game
                  (down from 12.0 per game in November).

                  The Kings have blocked 447 shots in 39 games.

                  In December, the Kings blocked 158 shots in 15
                  games, an average of 10.5 blocked shots per game
                  (down from 11.7 blocked shots per game in November).

                  The New York Rangers lead the NHL, blocking an
                  average of 16.7 shots per game.

                  The Boston Bruins are ranked last, with an average
                  of 9.0 blocked shots per game.

                  from November).

                  22.8 in November).

                  The Florida Panthers lead the league, averaging 27.3
                  hits per game.

                  Tampa Bay is ranked last, averaging 16.2 hits per
                  game.


 GIVEAWAYS:       The Kings are tied for 16th in giveaways (up from
                  19th in November), averaging 11.7 giveaways per
                  game (down from 12.3 per game in November).
