Kings Sign Defenseman Joe Piskula

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman prospect Joe Piskula to a multi-year entry-level contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Piskula, 22, scored a goal and added four assists with 34 penalty minutes in 38 games this season with the University of Wisconsin Badgers.

In three seasons with the Badgers, the 6-3, 210-pound native of Antigo, Wisconsin, played in 112 games and scored three goals with 19 assists for 22 points. Piskula also had 80 penalty minutes and a +36 rating.

Piskula was voted as the Badgers’ Otto Breitenbach Most Improved Player by his teammates in 2005-06. He also played for the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL) prior to attending the University of Wisconsin. Piskula was also a finalist for Wisconsin’s “Mr. Hockey” while playing for Antigo High School.
